Mitsubishi Mirage Wins In The IIHS 2015 Loyalty Awards

2015 loyalty awards

The Mitsubishi Mirage is small but mighty. One of its extraordinary abilities is to charm its owners to the point where they simply cannot buy another kind of vehicle.

Every year, IHS releases the winners of their Automotive Loyalty Award. As defined in a press release from IIHS, what they mean by loyalty is very specific. “Loyalty is determined when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to market and purchases or leases another new vehicle of the same make, model or manufacturer.”

The Mitsubishi Mirage took the cake in the Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact Car category for the IHS 2015 Loyalty Awards.

Another one of the Mirage’s extraordinary abilities falls in the area of fuel economy, and probably has a lot to do with its tendency to induce loyalty. As a press release from Mitsubishi states, the Mirage is “the most fuel efficient gas-powered non-hybrid in America.” This is where its sub-compact size makes a world of difference.

Safe Driving: How to Handle Driving on Wet Terrain

Driving on wet terrain

Just because it isn’t necessarily uncommon to drive in the rain doesn’t mean we shouldn’t exercise caution each time we do. According to AAA, wet pavement plays a factor in over 1 million auto accidents each year. As we’re in the middle of those spring months during which wet roads seem more normal than not, we at Heritage Mitsubishi wanted to take a few moments to discuss how we should react when driving on wet terrain.

  1. Slow down. You knew we were going to say it; we couldn’t not. Speed plays a large factor in motor vehicle accidents. As the driver, speed helps determine whether you will have enough time to react to a slippery situation, and slowing down can potentially prevent the vehicle from slipping altogether. We also recommend you avoid using cruise control during rainy weather.
  2. Don’t slam on your brakes. Despite your natural reaction to tense and stomp on the brakes, stay as calm and relaxed as possible so you can focus your attentions on where you want to go. If your vehicle begins to hydroplane or skid, continue to look and steer in the direction you want to go. Slowly and steadily apply the brakes and let your vehicle’s anti-lock braking system do its job.
  3. Take it one step at a time. If your vehicle begins to skid along the waterlogged asphalt, perform one task at a time. You don’t want to brake and turn and panic at the same time. First, begin to slowly brake as we mentioned earlier. Second, you’ll want to begin calmly turning your vehicle, if necessary, in the direction you want to go. You will want to take a deep breath and keep the panicking to an absolute minimum.

New Look and Quality Materials Define The 2016 Outlander Revamp

It’s been an exciting week at the 2015 New York Auto Show with Mitsubishi finally dropping the curtain on the new 2016 Outlander. The fresh design language incorporated from the Outlander PHEV Concept-S seems geared towards U.S. resurgence and the improved quality of the fresh Outlander makes it a compelling crossover.

In all, Mitsubishi employed 100 design changes compared to last year’s model. An angular, muscular chrome grill dominates the front end accentuating its aggressive lines. The doorsills now sport silver cladding and the hatchback has a noticeable skid-plate for a more rugged effect.

The interior receives many new changes, from premium soft-touch materials to additional padding on the steering wheel – but the biggest improvement is what you can’t see. The new Outlander will be markedly quieter by way of acoustic windshield glass and sound deadening material located in wheel wells, side mirrors, and throughout its structure. Certainly the 2016 Outlander revamp will demand a test drive if you’re in the  crossover market.

Mitsubishi has a runaway success on their hands, so come see the entire lineup of cars and SUVs at Heritage Mitsubishi.

Gas Mileage Tips: Getting the Best Fuel Economy Possible

Gas Mileage Tips

For many, warmer weather means more driving and more road trips. That’s why it’s important to keep in mind practical ways to improve you’re fuel economy, saving you money in the long run. We’ve put together a list of gas mileage tips to make sure you get the most out of your car.

According to FuelEconomy.gov, there are four main ways in which to save. Driving more efficiently, maintaining your car, planning trips, and buying for efficiency. All of these highlight different ways, both big and small, that you’ll get the best mileage.

Driving more efficiently includes things like accelerating slowing, following speed limits, using cruise control, and avoiding idling. Remember, your car works best when you’re moving at a constant rate, without any quick, jerky throttle changes.

Maintaining your car includes things like tire pressure, changing your oil, and changing your air filter. Remember, a low-friction, well-lubricated, and combustion-friendly car will get the best gas mileage.

Planning trips is simply. Take into account future stops and avoid making multiple trips. Naturally, carpooling works great to save money – plus it’s better for the environment.

Last but not least, buy efficient vehicles. Every Mitsubishi you buy is built to be as efficient as possible. Whether you’re buying a Lancer, i-MiEV, Mirage, or Outlander, each is built with innovative technology to get the best performance, including fuel economy, out of your car.

Mitsubishi Teases Upcoming 2016 Outlander Ahead of New York

upcoming 2016 Outlander

If the Outlander is one of your favorite Mitsubishi vehicles, you aren’t alone—it’s been the best-selling vehicle in our lineup at Heritage Mitsubishi for quite a while, now.

So it makes sense that a lot of us are excited for the new, upcoming 2016 Outlander, which Mitsubishi has just teased will be arriving at the New York International Auto Show.

The debut of the refreshed model will reveal some interesting design changes. Early spy shots have shown that the automaker has been working on sprucing up both the front and rear of the car, and we have a feeling we’re going to love what they did with it.

In fact, if it looks anything like the Outlander PHEV Concept-S previously revealed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, it’s all but inevitable.

The conference that will fully unveil the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander will take place on April 2 at 11:30am EST in New York. Save the date!
