Beat the Heat: Keep Your Car Cool

Beat the Heat: Keep Your Car Cool | Heritage Mitsubishi | Morrow, GAWhile we’re past the hottest part of the year, the weather has still been pretty warm lately.  If you can’t bear the heat of your car when you climb in—especially on a hot afternoon—consider the following tips to keep your car cool.

  1. Park strategically. If you have a garage or carport at home, use it. Take this as an opportunity to finally clean out the garage to make room for all of your vehicles, thus keeping them out of direct sunlight. When you park away from home, look for shaded parking garages or spots beneath large trees. If you can, park away from the sun, leaving your back windows to face the sun; that’s because rear windows tend to be smaller and will allow less heat in.
  2. Cover your windows. Invest in some shades for your windows—and not just the windshield. You can find trendy yet functional window shades at several retailers that fit all window sizes. For further protection, and if it’s legal in your state and within your budget, consider getting your windows tinted. (Read here for Georgia tinting laws.)
  3. Allow for circulation. When you park your car, leave your windows cracked slightly. If you have a sunroof or moonroof, leave that cracked as well. This will allow some air circulation while you’re out of your vehicle.

If you’re noticing that your air conditioner is not running optimally, schedule an appointment with our service department at Heritage Mitsubishi as soon as possible. Stay cool out there!
